Student housing offers some stability for real estate investors

The housing market is still in the boiler and doesn't seem likely to come out anytime soon, however there are asset opportunities in one section: student housing.

It's not a risk-free proposal, and it's far more management-intensive than conservative multifamily properties. However student housing has a long narration of growth and constancy and promises to repeat the pattern as college staffing stays on its upward route.

There are at smallest amount three paths to asset in college towns: independently; in a partnership, or as a investor in one of two publicly traded real estate asset trusts, American Campus Communities Inc. and Education Realty Trust Inc.
