Pacific stock index futures drop as contagion fears spread

Stock index futures measure the strength of indexes on the other side of the globe decline late Monday afternoon, as new exposure about the American real estate market and an Irish bailout plan worried investor.

The Irish government said that it will accept a post security package from the United Kingdom, the European Union and the International Monetary support of about 80 billion to 90 billion euros. In reporting of the Australian economy, Moody's Investors check said an Irish bailout wold pose a "credit negative" for the country, reported Bloomberg.

"The admittance by the Irish that they need monetary aid is not unanticipated, and nor is the off-putting stance taken by ratings agency," Angus Gluskie, at White Funds Management in Sydney, told the news service.
