
The United States doubt Australia's ability to economics its major military build-up since World War II, according to clandestine US cables on the loose by WikiLeaks to Fairfax Media.
Anxiety emanating from the US embassy in Canberra spiked when one of the Australian government's most senior defense officials seemed unable to give details the logic behind costing in the defense white paper, the statement said.
US officials were so disbelieving of the government's plan that embassy staff optional Australia may have to sell Defence real estate and delay purchasing new military utensils if it hoped to meet budget supplies laid out in the May 2009 white paper.
